How a tone is written

The square is the score.

The number is only an address. Two Riggles with the same traits write the same tone. Each face keeps the hook shape, but the notes sit on that face's chord. Path picks the chords. One edge plays the home chord and closes.

   Color Family

   The key. Cool families are minor. Warm families are major. Greyscale stays on open fifths.

2. 02

   Spectrum

   Colour inside that key. Normal is pentatonic. Greyscale is fifths. Hyper Rainbow opens the ladder. Each face stays on its chord.

3. 03

   Steps

   How many notes are in the hook. The shape stays. The notes fold onto the chord of that face.

4. 04

   Color Spread

   How far the one leap in the hook jumps. A wide spread makes an arch.

5. 05

   Animation Path

   The genre, the tempo, and the kit. Pop is 100–126 with a quiet violin fifth. R&B is 80–98 with a swung hat. Dance is house at 124–128, hardstyle at 150 with a reverse bass, or hard dance at 168. Funk is 104–118 with guitar chops on the backbeat. Orbital is a 130–140 break.

   Color Direction

   Forward reads the hook as written. Reverse flips it. The last face still comes home.

7. 07

   Baseline

   Rising or falling shapes the hook. Level leaves the question-and-answer shape.

8. 08

   Color Cycle

   Hue Sweep is long-short. Shade Wave is a knock. Block Shift is even. The last note is always held.

9. 09

   Envelope

   Pinch, bulge, crescendo, diminuendo, or even — how long each note rings.

10. 10

    Intensity

    Pastel, deep, or neon. Tempo, loudness, and how open the kit is. Every Riggle has a kit. Neon just plays it louder.

11. 11

    Treatment

    Soft, hard, or continuous. Brightens or softens the Type instrument.

12. 12

    Type

    The instrument. Normal is piano. Thick is acoustic guitar. Accordion is a reed. Corrugated is cello. Corrugated Pipe is organ. Pixelated is harp. Smoking is electric guitar.

13. 13

    Tier

    Locked to the chain. Local is the hook and a quiet kit. Regional fades in a low chord root. Blue Chip adds a short bass root. Higher tiers add room, then a closing chord.

14. 14

    Legendary

    Inverted sparks the last face. Outline ticks the first and last note up an octave. Duotone holds a fifth in the pad. All three sit on a low drone.
